Biography

A native of Paris, Gilles Compain is a French photographer born in 1971.

It is through his many trips abroad (especially in California) that his passion for design and modern

mid-century architecture has become his inspiration.

He has been particulary influenced by some major American architects like Lautner, Neutra, Wright and Wexler and has developed his taste for bold, contemporary architecture, in particular the graphic play

of geometry, light and shadow, minimalist design and abstracted forms.

His love of architecture is the driving force in his art, as he will continue to explore the playful nuance, unintended complexities and joyful visual surprises that buildings, large and small, can create.
