Biography

Miguel Chevalier was born in Mexico City in 1959; he works mainly in Paris where he has been living since 1985. Chevalier graduates from the Beaux-Arts in Paris 1980 and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 1983. He has received the Lavoisier scholarship and went to the Pratt Institute in New York in 1984; and also received the award of the villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, Japan in 1994.

Miguel Chevalier has acquired, thanks to his multidisciplinary training and during his travels across the world, a great artistic experience. His art is characterized by the exploration, since 1982, of the latest technologies. His area of research takes its sources in the history of the art, whose essential data he reformulates using computer tools.

His themes relate to his observation of flows and networks that organize our contemporary societies. He imposed himself internationally as one of the pioneers of virtual and digital art. The images that he produces question ceaselessly our relationship to the world.
