Biography
I have been a watercolorist for over twenty-five years. I trained as an artist at the Emile Cohl school (Lyon). This school certainly trained me in illustration, but above all I learned all the basics of drawing and painting. I developed an open-mindedness by approaching academic drawing as well as computer graphics, sculpture and comics. I demonstrate the same rigor in my work for publishing as in my work as a watercolor painter: my intention is precise.
I have a good command of all the stages of work, from sketching to coloring. I do a lot of research in pencil in order to compose my future painting. I do not work in the wet. I favor colored grays enhanced with a few saturated touches. My range of colors is therefore quite limited, essentially natural shades that I spread in light layers, willingly freeing myself from the drawing which only serves as a reference. My favorite themes in watercolor are nudes of imperfect but real women, with sweet curves on the hips, greedy on the lower back, chiaroscuro women, animal portraits with a deep and penetrating gaze and narrative, mysterious and poetic landscapes.
