Guy-Roger Bandila

France

Guy-Roger Bandila blends European heritage and African tradition in a powerful painting, with curved lines and ochre colors, exploring love, nature and collective memory.

Biography

Guy-Roger Bandila's painting is situated at the crossroads of two legacies: that of European fine arts, which he studied, and that of the African pictorial tradition, transmitted in particular by the Poto-Poto School of Painting in Brazzaville. This dual affiliation nourishes a singular body of work, in which both academic rigor and the expressive freedom of popular forms resonate.

His style is distinguished by a play of curved and cubic lines, a marked use of material, and ochre colors evoking the hard, oxidized red earths of tropical regions. This powerful palette echoes the deep roots of his imagination.

The themes he explores revolve around love, humanity, and nature. Through these motifs, Bandila questions the relationship between man and his environment, between collective memory and individual expression.
