Laurent HDBX

Laurent HDBX is a visual artist born in Paris in 1961.
Trained at the Beaux-Arts, he initially embarked on a demanding and intensive career in design and communication, where he honed his sense of composition, rhythm, and visual impact. This early period profoundly influenced his artistic style: precision, efficient execution, and a strong visual culture became the foundations of his work.

From 2008 onwards, he chose to settle on the shores of the Mediterranean and devote himself fully to his personal practice. This decisive turning point opened up a freer field of exploration, where painting and sculpture engage in dialogue without hierarchy.

Laurent HDBX defines himself as a "painter in volume." His research goes beyond the surface: he constructs, superimposes, carves, and assembles. Matter becomes language, color becomes vibration. Reliefs capture light, pigments assert themselves with intensity, and each work imposes an immediate physical presence.

His world is both instinctive and structured, raw and controlled. He leaves little room for explanation, preferring direct impact and sensory experience. Information about him is deliberately scarce; the artist effaces himself behind the work, letting the material and color speak for themselves.
