Biography

If Maxime Duveau's images don't always lend themselves to immediate interpretation, it's because they play on an interweaving of referential motifs drawn from a photographic archive built up over time. His art doesn't present itself narratively, but rather as a jumble of images where memories of a California road movie, views of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, and snapshots from his exhibitions collide. The very substance of his images is as much about texture—a term the artist readily uses—as it is about mental Braille, so much does his process blend reminiscences with a unique, distinctive language.
