Biography

Christian BLARY (born in 1962 in Valenciennes) has been a painter since 1989 and was officially registered as such in 1999. After living in Paris, he settled in Valenciennes in the Hauts-de-France region in 1990.

Entirely self-taught, passionate and deeply attached to human nature, he discovered painting at the age of 18 whilst visiting museums, exhibitions and art fairs.
As an artist, he pursues his path with passion. He plays with the power of forms, symbols and colours, and the superimposition of motifs to create vibrant and captivating works that awaken the senses and act like a magnet.

Initially influenced by the artistic approach of Impressionists such as Paul Gauguin and Van Gogh, he turned towards the styles of Paul Klee and Vladimir Kandinsky, then Kazimir Malevich and Arshile Gorky. His need for change drives him to express himself simultaneously across several different series. He draws inspiration from his own life experiences, his travels and his sensitivity to the present, expressing his feelings in a unique and distinctive style. His artistic world is highly recognisable: it is characterised by colours which, whilst often vivid, do not always succeed in concealing the complexity of a subject matter where forms, symbols, myths, relationships, family and the problems of humanity intertwine.
