Emmanuel Deschodt

Emmanuel Deschodt is an artist trained at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Today, his artistic practice revolves around two main axes: boxing: he uses his fists like brushes to paint portraits, and drawing with India ink.

Drawing is at the heart of his artistic process: whether in travel journals or more introspective exercises, Emmanuel Deschodt isolates, disguises, and transforms the figures he encounters, constructing a profoundly romantic universe. His ink drawings document both his Parisian life and his travels to Arles, Lebanon, Senegal, and Mexico.

His work has been featured in several notable exhibitions: a live performance at the Palais de Tokyo in December 2024, a solo show combining painting, boxing and dance in Paris in 2022, as well as artistic collaborations with the Musée d'Orsay and the Palais de la Porte Dorée during his studies.

Throughout each of his productions, drawing remains the primary matrix, the common thread of a journey that is both unique and deeply felt.
