Bronze Sculpture for Sale
Noémie Ninot's practice revolves around repetition as a mechanism of transmission, normalization, and the alienation of bodies. Through the reproduction of gestures, postures, and rituals, she explores intergenerational and social forms of mimicry, seeking to reveal recurring patterns that reflect a collective and systemic experience embedded in women's memory. Working across staged photography, sculpture, video, and installation, she reenacts injunctions surrounding beauty, motherhood, seduction, and sexuality, only to subvert them through artifice. Masks, makeup, prosthetics, and wigs become tools that allow her to blur the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, to augment or diminish the body, and to embody the other. By exposing the very mechanisms of simulation, Ninot turns the codes of beautification and normalization against themselves, revealing the imperatives they impose.
