Nicolas Guidetti, born in the early 1970s, is a figurative painter of contemporary life. Faithful to painting on motif, he sets up his easel in the street, by the sea or in the mountains, and captures everyday scenes as they appear: suburb crossroads, Parisian boulevards, lively squares, summer beaches, snowy landscapes.
Light is at the heart of his work. He returns willingly to the same place at different times of the day, attentive to how a raking sun embraces a facade or how snow transforms an ordinary street into a space of silence and clarity. His canvases are distinguished by strong color contrasts, bluish or mauve shadows and a frank, visible brushstroke that gives each scene its vibration.
Far from anything picturesque, Guidetti paints today's world without embellishing it: cars, utility poles, construction fences, or motorhomes naturally find their place in his compositions. It is in this assumed reality that the poetry of his luminous views is born.
Uniqueness of his approach, the artist does not sign his paintings on the front. He numbers them in the order of their creation and signs them on the back. More than 1,800 canvases make up this pictorial journal today, kept with rare constancy
