Guilhem Nicolas aka Jadikan lives and works in Paris. He is an economist by training. He plays with the photographic medium to materialize movement through light. Without any photo editing, his images are the reflection of a single shot whose duration can extend over several minutes. Using light sources and dark environments, he brings to light seemingly empty spaces.
Jadikan's photographs are light painting performances or light art performance photography. In a dark environment, usually at night, Jadikan - with the help of different kind of light sources - paints by shining the light source directly into the camera lens. Light painting requires a slow shutter speed, from 15 seconds to 10 minutes. Each title represents the exposure time.
In 2008, he founded the Jadikan Lightning Project ("Jadikan" is a Malay word that means make, create, transform.)
