Jorma

Jorma is the pseudonym of an artist who works in a figurative field close to hyperrealism. Since the start of his career this artist has painted alternately under one or the other name, sometimes with interruptions of several years, depending on the mood of the moment. One works rather with his head, the other with his body, but like a Richter, each enriches the other, allows him to take a 'vacation' of himself to better find himself. Everyone has their own workshop. Jorma himself qualifies his work as decorative, as opposed to more intellectual work, and more difficult to share in a living space. Decorative like this beautiful piece of furniture, this object which is there every day, this painting gives its color, its energy, its warmth to the inhabited space. These are generally fairly large formats, worked in summer in close proximity to the outdoors. The whole body takes part in it, it is a fight between the colored material and the canvas, where all blows are allowed, brushes, knives, dripping, hands, ... until the desired result is obtained, from storm to storm. meditation. The inspiration of nature is essential there: he often put his easel in front of a landscape to see the light play before returning to his studio work. The inspiration of the great 'abstracts' too, from Turner to Rotko via Zao-wou-ki. Maybe one day he will manage to merge the two opposites, to give a single name for the whole of his work, but that is for the public to decide.
