Biography
A student of Fine Arts and textile industries in Lyon, Alain Cheval entered a workshop as an apprentice silk designer. He then discovered the possibility of gouache, oil and inks. He exhibited for the first time in 1966. His talent was recognized at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he became a member, as well as at the Salon de Printemps in Lyon and in numerous galleries. In 1999, he was registered for the first time in the 99 edition of Bénézit (artist listing book). His landscapes generally include constructions, most often views of villages and vegetation whose buildings are geometrically shaped into spheres or cubes. “Nature is fuzzy and diffuse… and yet man needs to structure it! ". Alain Cheval, architect of the villages, often in tiers wrapped around their church with a force and a brilliance giving to his work a very marked and recognizable character. He exhibits in France and abroad.
