Maria Teresa Bertina

Maria Teresa Bertina is a Brazilian artist born in 1953 who lives & works between Paris & Rome. She began with painting on textiles then porcelain and earthenware, in the old LeTallec workshops. Then Maria Teresa enrolled at Atelier Nicolas Poussin (former Atelier Picasso) in the Montparnasse district to learn drawings from live models, to paint and sculptwith Yann Guillon & Jean Claude Athanée. Then she returned to the Mac Avoy and the Grande Chaumière Academies with Daniel Sciora, pupil of Mac Avoyand René Artozoul as teachers. 

This learning is all imbued with this famous "School of Paris" whose teachers were strongly influenced. Her many and long stays in Africa, Europe, Asia and Latin America (Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Chile), allow her to keep a spirit free and to bring different cultures into contact in her works, she keeps her spontaneity which for her is the pledge of the sincerity of the first sensation. 

Throughout her travel diaries and photographs, she translates her taste for all these powerful colors that will inhabit her works. She is interested in themes related to man, and her environment in its duality and its complexity, its joys and sorrows. Her works as paintings, sculptures, engravings - sing of Life, Joy, Love, weep for wounds and capture emotion! The essential, she says, is Life and all of her works illustrates this! In addition to painting and sculpture, she does not hesitate to approach other techniques - such as etchings and glass - which help to develop and highlight her creativity. Her works are part of several private collections. She regularly participates in many international artitic events & art fairs.
