Presentation

Cali's tool of choice is ordinary, a simple ballpoint pen, but her works are extraordinary! The "bic art" is a real discipline, a drawing technique which leaves no room for error. Making the unusual out of the ordinary, developing a complex technique from simple materials, this is the bet of this extraordinary artist: she embarks on very large-format portraits with pen on newspaper and the result is bluffing. The characters she immortalizes are, for the most part, absolute icons: Mick Jagger, John Lennon or Marilyn meet Mandela, Kennedy or Gandhi. With humor and distance, she accuses, provokes and denounces. His compositions mix sulfur and glamor, rebellion and emotion. With the ball of her pen, Cali traces the outlines of a sick world, victim of its excess consumption and starification. The artist's response to the chaos symbolized by his collages of newspaper clippings is clearly expressed in his "Peace & Love" paintings.
