Presentation

From the universe of fiber and thread where the artist found the tool and the technique of his plastic work, intense and sensitive spaces exude a pure symphony of colors, volume, lines and lights . So much so that we forget the constraints and worries of the execution linked to the complexity of the weaving and the delicacy of the material. "It is less about nature than a transfiguration based on natural elements" (Hervé Courtaigne) The observation of plants in the gardens of Paris, in the forests of Burgundy or in the countryside of Guatemala (his second homeland) , are moments of spontaneous dialogue with nature. Then, the color or the morphology of the plant guides the creation of the work. Marie-Noëlle Fontan in search of memory, weaves the inexorably passing time. The artist is humble, facing the immensity of nature and creation, but this text, written by means of plant tissue and the network of weft and warp, reveals an immeasurable dimension. Like Herman de Vries, Marinette Cueco, Paca Sanchez and Claudie Hunzinger; Marie-Noëlle Fontan dares to choose the bushy path to compose with lunar, winged plants, vines, corozos, cow tongues, chichicastes, wild cottons, and even lichens.
