Biography

Lucas Rollin's work is guided by the idea that humans and their history are an integral part of nature.

In his mountain landscapes, with forests under a hypnotic light, there is a certain feeling of anxiety. By using repeatedly certain signs and symbols, Lucas Rollin creates a personal mythology that we don't apprehend directly, but constitutes a form of mysticism to which the viewers add meanings.

In his paintings as well as in his sculptures, he renders ordinary objects such as houses, trees, pieces of wood abstract; paradoxically, their banality takes a playful and ironic dimension. In such a context, silence becomes tangible. Lucas Rollin represents this state of grace and invites the viewer to feel this ultimate melancholy.
