Popay

Popay was born in 1971 in Barcelona, Spain. He lives and works in Paris.

He is an artist who stands out in the world of Parisian graffiti, Popay creates baroque frescoes, which are between fairy tales and hallucinations. he gets inspired by artist like; Hieronymus Bosch, Combas, Erro, crumb, Jimmy Hendrix as well as from spanish paintings. His paintings are completly made with aerosol, treated however the classical way, by successive glaze.

A slow process where the world becomes more complex giving way to his abstractions, agglutinated vegetation, sea floor or imaginary forests, where a multitude of semi human characters, elves, imaginary faunae dissapears and reappears. His figurative paintings are real futuristic journeys, imaginary and baroque. Which immerses us in his creations, just like Bosch's work does, where each portion of his work is a subject by itself.
