Biography
Dominique Leroy is a French photographer and filmmaker born in Nîmes in 1955. With a career spanning over 40 years, he has established himself as a major figure in contemporary photojournalism, combining thematic reporting, artistic photography, and audiovisual documentary.
Since 1975, Dominique Leroy has produced over 30 years of reporting around the world, covering diverse topics such as Formula 1, cultural festivals, natural landscapes, ethnic groups, wildlife, and festive events. He has published 42 books on these themes, and over 25,000 images have been published in international publications such as GEO, Paris Match, VSD, Le Photographe, and Zoom.
His signature works include series on Formula 1, including portraits of Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton, capturing the intensity and speed of these competitions. He has also explored subjects such as the landscapes of Guadeloupe, street scenes in Havana, and traditional festivities in Africa and Asia.
Dominique Leroy has exhibited his work in over 50 exhibitions worldwide, including in France, Australia, Canada, and the United States. In 2024, he presented the exhibition "Éternel Senna" in Paris, Lyon, Arles, and Monaco, alongside the publication of his eponymous book by Glénat.
His work has been recognized with several awards, including the International Prize for Best Motorsport Photo at FICSEM in 1982.
