Marcel Demagny

Born on 2nd October, 1949 in Crehange, Moselle, Marcel Demagny, the painter lives and has been painting since 2005 in the region of Drome.

Marcel Demagny studied architecture in Nancy, and began a career as Head of Urban Grand Nancy from 1976 to 2005. He was also the community and project manager.

He was brought up by a mother who had a true passion for art, he has been drawing and coloring since his childhood without any artistic training. Before joining the architecture school, associated with Beaux Arts Nancy, he participated in several exhibitions. His encounter with many visual artists, painters, graphic designers was like an opening.

After being influenced by many incumbent painters during his training, especially André ROGER, he turned towards color and material painters such as: Nicolas de STAEL, CATHELIN, VENARD, AMBROGIANI, HILAIRE, and more abstract ones: SOULAGES, KLINE, MIOTTE, Georges MATHIEU, and graphic ones too: Bernard BUFFET and TREMOIS. These various influences have led him to assert his style: works with a pallet knife or a scraper depending on the material, an achievement of 40 years of passion and practice.

In fact, he wrote a book which recounts 35 years of his life as a painter. His inspirations and main subjects are: landscapes, floral compositions but also metamorphosis of natural things.

Sometimes seduced by POP or CLASSICAL music concert, car races, sports, he creates paintings according to his emotions and doesn't restrain himself.
