Sonia Val

I was born in 1966, in Mont de Marsan in the Landes. The last of a family of 12 children, I lived a chaotic childhood, very far from the artistic world. Very young, I am captivated, blown away by the painters of the Renaissance, the sculptures. Art is part of my DNA, music and poetry capture me, give me answers, and make me wonder about the world.

At 17, I left home, in a hurry to earn a living, catering, selling, real estate, I resume my studies, but the pleasure is not there. The deaths of my parents and two brothers have transformed me, I know that everything can change very quickly, so I must savor the moments with my children, my husband, life.

It is very late that I start to paint, at 43, to fill my sleepless nights, to occupy my hands and free my mind from these emotional shocks. I start with painting on porcelain, abstract and come naturally, I patch up old furniture, I burn wood, I paint, I patina. Everything that is manual interests me. Very quickly, it is a need, a necessity. At 52, after a "burn out", I put my work in real estate, to devote myself to my art. Everything follows very quickly, I finally show my work on social networks, I prepare competitions, I set up my workshop, and I am in demand.
