Presentation

After studying at Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, Blutch was discovered through a competition organized by the monthly Fluide glacial. His first series, published in this review between 1988 and 1993 are marked by a dreamlike humor, reminiscent of Jean-Claude Forest, Daniel Goossens, Morris or even Will Eisner for the sense of the staging. In a short time Blutch was considered a leading comic book author, the albums Peplum, Mitchum, Le Petit Christian, Rancho Bravo and Blotch followed.

In 2002, he won the international prize of the city of Geneva for Modern Speed. In January 2007, on the occasion of the Angoulême International Comic Festival, he performed on stage alongside Brigitte Fontaine, illustrating his songs live and on the big screen.

In 2009, he received the grand prize of the city of Angoulême. He will direct the festival the following year. In 2011, To End Cinema, a work in which Blutch affirms his unfailing love for the 7th art, was released. In 2017, he paid a vibrant tribute to the 9th Art by publishing Variations, he created many movie posters including Les Herbes Folles, Aimer, Boire et Chanter as well as You haven't seen anything yet. He is considered today as one of the main authors of French comics.
