Bertrand De Cointet

Bertrand De Cointet, graduated from Beaux Arts in Paris in 2004.

The paintings are painted in oil on raw canvas, in a very spontaneous way. Painting taken from life like a polaroid which would give an instantaneous image, it is a representation of reality, with a naturalistic approach. Some rare alterations can be added in the workshop.

The landscapes, found on the side of a road while traveling, at any time of the year, whatever the weather, and in any country, are descriptive, cartographic. All subjects are taken with the same interest: panoramic landscapes,

barns lost in the countryside, abandoned caravan by the side of a road, ruins of old institutions, small villages, gardens, highways and architectures under construction, urbanization. All elements of everyday life, that we come across without necessarily paying attention, in order to know where we are, with the aim of understanding the atmosphere, the light and the space.

The portraits are relatives, friends, passing people, strangers, anyone who accepts to be a model. Intimate, characters buried in their universe or who wink at someone outside the painting, personal discussions ... Each of the models is free to choose their pose, psychology in front of the staging.
