Philippe Massis is a French artist born in 1954. A graduate of the "Ecole des Metiers d'Art" of Paris (from the graphic section) and from the "Ecole Estienne" of Paris (from the advertising section), he started a career as art director in an advertising agency where he worked with Sammy, his lifelong friend.
He started doing movie posters and in the year 2000 he chose to dedicate solely to painting. Philippe Massis is a free thinker, prisoner of his impulses and very determined in his creative research, which makes his painting and aura brighter.
By mastering the art of playing with shadows and bright lights on a canvas or by a craziness that is apparent in his work, a sixty-eighters legacy, Philippe Massis portrays the indecency of naked bodies, joyful and dreamlike scenes, portraits of loved ones and of people who has dissipated, nightmares etc.
His work has been exhibited in Paris, Havana, New York, Saint Petersbourg and Corsica.
