France • 1959
Presentation
Vincent Gachaga was born in 1959 in France. He began working in the communication sector at the age of 20 and did various professions until 2005. From this day on, he decided to give free rein to his overflowing creativity and devoted himself to painting. Self-taught, he currently lives in the Rhones Alpes region.
Initially attracted by Brut art, Vincent Gachaga's work was quickly influenced by the Pop art and the New Realism movement. The artists Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol had a particular influence on him.
Vincent Gachaga's creations are mostly urban. He likes to represent the city (mostly megapolis) and uses digital techniques. He reworks his photos through collages, superimposition, painting (acrylic, watercolors, felt pen, resin...) but also materials like aluminum, zinc or wood which he finds around.
Vincent Gachaga is interested by those urban visuals that isn't photographed by others and calls them "les déchets de photo", a way of coming back to Brut Art and his beginnings.
In 2008, for the first time he exhibited at the Veyrier du Lac Gallery. Since then, many other galleries have called upon him.
