Description
A still life revisited with a sculptural approach. This wall composition plays on the superposition of planes and the density of materials. Wood, acrylic, and resin assemble to create a pronounced relief.
The eye is immediately drawn to a central yellow flower. Its petals open against a deep blue background, almost nocturnal. Beside it, stylized fruits rest in a container with mauve tones.
The influence of Pop art is manifested in the choice of saturated colors and sharp outlines. Each shape is cut with precision. The smooth rendering of the resin brings a modern sheen to the whole.
The self-taught artist transforms a classic subject into a contemporary assemblage. The rigid structure of the wood supports a playful and graphic aesthetic.
This piece, made in 2026, explores the boundary between painting and object. The balance of masses and the contrast of warm and cool tones structure the visual space. The whole ends with gray and orange geometric lines on the right side.
Presentation
Initially attracted by Brut art, Vincent Gachaga's work was quickly influenced by the Pop art and the New Realism movement. The artists Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol had a particular influence on him.
Vincent Gachaga's creations are mostly urban. He likes to represent the city (mostly megapolis) and uses digital techniques. He reworks his photos through collages, superimposition, painting (acrylic, watercolors, felt pen, resin...) but also materials like aluminum, zinc or wood which he finds around.
Vincent Gachaga is interested by those urban visuals that isn't photographed by others and calls them "les déchets de photo", a way of coming back to Brut Art and his beginnings.
In 2008, for the first time he exhibited at the Veyrier du Lac Gallery. Since then, many other galleries have called upon him.
