Bruno Tremohars

Bruno Trehomars is a French artist born in 1955 in Brittany not far from the Pont-Avent where he currently lives. After two years studying graphic design at the Superior School of Arts and Techniques (ESAT) in Boulogne-Billancourt, he was accepted at the National School of Fine Arts of Paris. He then worked in different fields, in the world of fashion and art edition, while working with other painters and sculptors.

Since a young age, Bruno Tremohars traveled a lot to Central America, the Middle Est and Africa. His trips to India have particularly influence him, in his personal life as well as in his artistic career. In India, he developed a taste for watercolors, gouache and sketching. His paintings are influence also by local artists of his region, such as Jean-Julien Lemordant, Mathurin Meheut, Pierre Savigny de Belay, Lucien Simon and André Even. He represents life in Britanny before the war and its villages, churches, fishermen, sailboats, harbors, lighthouses and farmers etc....

For the forms he uses, Bruno Tremohars is influence by painters of the School of Pont-Aven, from whom he borrowed "Cloisonnism", which are large flat areas of colors separated by a black line and a profusion in the details. His art is reminiscent of comic strips of traditional medieval illuminations. He works with gouache, acrylics and oil and uses various supports and techniques to create a personal, idealistic and utopian vision of Breton's past.
