Biography
Jeremi Ca is a young artist living and working in Brittany (France). After a Masters in Art at the University of Rennes, he decided to devote himself entirely to the practice of painting. According to him, art is the medium allowing a better understanding of the world.
His protean work is divided between the intimate space of the studio where his series are developed, which he calls his “axes of research”, and the public space of the street where various installations or frescoes are created in connection with his questions. . These installations have seen the light of day in several countries (France, Belgium, Portugal, Morocco, India, Peru). Context is fundamental in Jeremi Ca's artistic practice. According to him, it determines a technical and stylistic approach linked to a subject.
Famous artists have strongly marked the work of Jeremi Ca. We can quote Jean Dubuffet, Fiona Rae, Vasarely, or even Glenn Brown. His work reveals a force of expressiveness where the line is the result of an instinctive and automatic approach. Giving great importance to research and experimentation, he refuses to be locked into a linear and repetitive pictorial production.
His serial work brings him closer to artists like Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke where the act of creating is a confrontation of techniques and styles constantly pushing the limits of creation. His research reflects on the relationship between man and art, on the perception we have of a work. Hence his attachment to the effects created by the technique and the manufacture of tools favoring the creation of different stylistic renderings.
As a subject or spectator, humans hold an important place in his work. Through its different implications, Jeremi Ca questions the existence of painting through the active interpretation of the gaze.
