Biography

From his meeting with his model, the immutable base of his artistic process, Gauthier Genet transforms the nude. The photographic session, in chiaroscuro, abstracts the body for the first time. The variation on canvas ends this bursting: the artist sculpts and flattens the shapes drawn by the opposition between shadow and light. The minimalism of the formal language, the refusal of any chromatic overbidding, demonstrates the artist's bias: that of eroticizing the nude while making it disappear in the image. The result is then a process of the transitive and the iterative forming a formal language driven by the sensuality of an endlessly refined line.
