Pierre Carreau
France
Presentation
Born in 1972 into a family of multidisciplinary artists, Pierre Carreau was imbued very early on with an aesthetic culture open to all forms of expression. Self-taught, he acquired a solid mastery of photographic techniques by carrying out numerous commission works for advertising and publishing. At the same time, he is in constant search of concepts and pictorial experiments allowing him to fully express his artistic intentions.
In 2004, Pierre Carreau moved with his wife and children to the island of Saint-Barthélemy. This small Caribbean paradise then forms his open-air workshop, where the subtle variations of tropical sunlight and the changing soul of the sea become the subjects of his vision. Like the pieces of a puzzle, these different elements will find their coherence and take the form of his first series "Aqua Viva". The depth and singularity of Pierre Carreau's work quickly opened the doors to numerous private collections and several exhibitions across the Atlantic.
The famous collector Charles Saatchi was not mistaken in acquiring several prints from the "Aqua Viva" series, visible in the Saatchi Gallery in London. Today Pierre Carreau lives and works on the French Atlantic coast.
