Biography

Self-taught artist, Jean-Marie Chassaing describes himself as a ceramicist of geometric shapes and has discovered the art of raku relatively recently, and almost by chance. This encounter with earth, fire and metal has become a real passion. That of being able to start from raw materials to metamorphose them into structured and architectural forms, to shape them to give birth to pieces of discretion, sobriety and elegance that blend in perfect harmony with floral art.

The malleability of the earth allows the making by turning of ceramics which are therefore almost always round. This same malleability, on the other hand, makes the production of ceramics with angles much more complex (square sections, rectangle…). This is why his pieces are of exceptional and unusual modernity and architecture.
