

Jean-Roch Klethi has done multiple studies: architecture (1975-1983), history of the textile industry (EHESS Paris 1984) he has practiced several professions as well: urban planner and artist. At age 19, when he finished high school in 1976, he made his first exhibition. After this, he did not stopped wandering between his art studio and his profession as an urban planner. For the past 10 years, he has dedicated exclusively to creation.
Making maps of imaginary spaces is the main subject of his creation. The artist creates micro utopias. The Utopia is woven on textile materials in a graphic style. Misting and liquid flows are used to propagate atmospheric and oneiric ripples. The traces randomly sketch movement and the present moment. The canvas seems to freeze a floating cloud or a cotton slipping between fingers.
His participation at the Shanghai Art Fair in 2004 boosted his career. The artist presents his works at the AIDA Gallery since 2008 and exhibits regularly in France and Germany.
