Biography

Christophe Salembier is a painter, born in 1956 in Lille. Son of an architect father and grand son of a poet, Christophe developed a passion for drawing and painting at a young age and drew inspiration from his creative family environment. He was hardly twelve years old when he won the National award for children drawings. Later on, he studied at the Saint Luc arts school in Belgium, then at Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Tourcoing. He lives and works in Lille today.

Christophe Salembier likes to depict nature in its immensity. The landscapes are tremendous spaces, where calm and silence dominate wonderfully. Under a blue sky, multi-colors inspire dynamism and vibration in the painting.
Initially the artist was more bent towards figurative painting, he has now moved onto abstract compositions since a few years. He works with acrylic and watercolors, and uses gold sheets very often.

Christophe Salembier exhibits in France and abroad. He has realized several murals for individuals.
