Biography
An acute sensitivity to daily my surroundings constantly triggers a desire to paint. My paintings begin mostly with an observational drawing. This snapshot of a moment gradually develops into a meditative exploration of the subject using oil on canvas.
Palette knives enable me to freely express my reaction to the subject. Mixing colours is intuitive rather than calculated. Emotion is channelled into my work and could even be described as a sort of therapy. It is an experience in which I endeavor to capture the feeling the subject evokes.
I am continuously observing how light touches our environment and changes its appearance. Most recently my work has explored rooftops and I am beginning a series of interior scenes which for the moment are from my own home.
Born in Leicestershire, England, 1984, creation has always been a central part of my life. After graduating with an illustration degree from University College Falmouth in Cornwall i ventured a long way south and settled in Bordeaux, France. Married with four children this is where I now work and live.
