Maka Zedelashvili is a Georgian multimedia artist born in 1986 who, lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her career spans more than three decades of artistic practice, international exhibitions, residencies, and cultural collaborations. Holding a master’s degree in fine arts and digital Modeling, she has developed a distinctive visual language that merges traditional artistic techniques with contemporary multimedia approaches. Born and raised in Georgia, Zedelashvili discovered her passion for art at an early age. Encouraged by her mother despite having no artistic background within her family, she pursued formal studies at the Academy of Art and went on to establish an extensive international career. Her work explores themes of existential struggle, cultural memory, women’s rights, spirituality, sacred traditions, and contemporary social discourse. Drawing inspiration from Georgia’s rich cultural heritage and its post-Soviet transformation, she creates works that investigate the relationship between the physical and metaphysical worlds. Through painting, multimedia installations, and digital processes, she invites viewers into reflective spaces where mythology, memory, and contemporary experience intersect. Throughout her practice, recurring motifs such as female figures, symbolic objects, dreamlike landscapes, and layered narratives serve as vehicles for exploring identity, resilience, displacement, and belonging. Her works balance poetic sensitivity with critical inquiry, creating visual experiences that are both intimate and universally resonant. Zedelashvili’s works have been exhibited at prominent institutions and international events, including the XV Florence Biennale in Italy, the Grand Egyptian Museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the Georgian National Museum, the Tbilisi History Museum, the Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Georgian Art, the Batumi Art Museum, and the State Museum of Art in Baku, among many others. Her solo exhibitions have been presented in Georgia and Germany, including exhibitions at Atelier Hamann in Hanover, Gallery Khomli in Heidelberg, the Ria Keburia Foundation, ArtUp Gallery in Batumi, the International Art Center Gallery in Tbilisi, Fabrika Tbilisi, and the Literary Museum of Georgia. In addition to her exhibition activities, she has participated in numerous international residencies, symposiums, and cultural forums across Europe, the Middle East, and the Caucasus region. Her works are held in private collections throughout Georgia, Germany, Italy, Canada, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and the United States. Today, Maka Zedelashvili continues to develop an evolving multidisciplinary practice that bridges tradition and innovation, offering profound reflections on human experience, cultural identity, and the enduring power of visual storytelling.
