Biography

Horst Janssen was a German illustrator and printmaker. Born in 1929, Janssen studied at the School of Fine Arts in Hamburg. 

Janssen's early work involved drawings of famous figures, however, over the course of his career his drawings became more fractured and abstract. He received the Grand Prize in graphic art at the 1968 Venice Biennale. Janssen died in 1995 and the Horst Janssen Museum in Hamburg is devoted to his works.
