Biography

BIO
Marina Mausi is a self-taught artist based in Hamburg, Germany. The cosmos was her profession — now it's her aesthetic. After a career as an aerospace engineer, she began painting in 2024, working primarily in oil on canvas. Her contemporary figurative practice merges neo-pop aesthetics, Y2K visual culture, symbolic portraiture, and speculative female imagery — stylised faces, luminous colour, clean backgrounds, expressive costume, and motifs of transformation. She is currently developing the collection “History. Epochs. Archetypes of the Future." Selected Exhibitions: HafenCity Open Air, Cruise Center Altona, Stadtpark Open Air, Habibi Galerie (Hamburg Arcaden) — Hamburg, Germany, 2024–2025. Lives and works in Germany.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores female identity as a fluid space between the physical and the immaterial, the human and the otherworldly, the vulnerable and the powerful. My portraits exist on the threshold between body, light, memory, and transformation. The women I paint vary widely — shaved heads, coloured hair, cybernetic features, tattoos, neon skin. These are not decorative; they are metaphors for inner states, resistance to uniformity, and proof that identity is never fixed, but constantly constructed and revealed anew. I do not seek idealisation. My heroines are archetypal — the rebel, the warrior, the sage, the seer — through whom I speak of strength, fragility, sensuality, silence, and self-creation. These images invite viewers to reconsider what it means for a woman to be visible, vulnerable, different, and powerful at once — preserving courage and integrity without denying complexity.
