Biography

Ulla Nolden is an artist interested in the subtleties of everyday reality. She investigates certain aspects of her perception through photography, algorithmic animation, physical installations and writing.

Having been brought up to be suspicious of art, Nolden first became a motion designer. Yet she remained intrigued by the philosophical questions raised by contemporary art.

Over the years, Ulla Nolden developed her own aesthetic through daily photographs. Studying computer programming enabled her to fuse her motion design experience with an examination of her visual perception of movement. Her current research is focused on spaces, particularly man-made environments which mainly consist of plants: gardens.
