Elke Pollack is a German artist. She grew up in Stalinstadt in a family of musicians. She studied Visual Arts in Berlin, where she lives and works.
Elke Pollack's artworks deal with human beings and their existential states. Her metaphorical imagery includes various different characters and symbols: ornamental, abstract, floral or scriptural forms can be seen on an equal footing with a figure or a sweeping line.
The graphic elements complete the picture, introduce melody and rhythm, weaving multiple layers into the image produced. The mixture of graphic and paint elements and the sparse use of color adds artistic resonance to the caricature-like sequences like families enjoying themselves or people making music together.
