The artist Tanja Hirschfeld works intensively with masks and costumes from different cultures. During her research, she found innumerable overlaps between the costume elements. This prompted her to create paintings that unites our world cultures in one figure. The distant, the unknown and the familiar are united and create closeness and dialogue. A current political and emotional issue. As a trained graphic designer, T. Hirschfeld has mastered the necessary image processing programs: from a mix of digital collage and digital painting, the templates for her oil paintings are created on the computer. This process is the cornerstone, and can take several days to weeks. It is important that the motif does not represent a flat image or a parody of our cultures, but that the figure appears mystical and unapproachable, and thereby also clarifies the feeling of fear that we feel in front of the stranger. The artist's works are exhibited in Europe and the USA (LA / Hollywood).
