Biography
Fatimie Ashyrova is a contemporary artist based in Ireland. Working in acrylic, oil, and mixed media, she explores light, colour, and atmosphere through still life and abstraction. After returning to painting later in life, Fatimie developed her practice through independent study alongside formal training in classical drawing and painting. Her visual language is informed by artists including Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, David Hockney, and Wayne Thiebaud. Her current practice centres on two interconnected bodies of work: still lifes and floral abstractions. Through simplified forms, vibrant colour relationships, and textured brushwork, she transforms everyday subjects into spaces filled with warmth, harmony, and quiet optimism. Flowers, fruit, and domestic objects become vehicles for exploring the poetry of light and shadow, while her abstract paintings evoke emotional landscapes through layered surfaces and expressive colour. Following her relocation to Ireland, Fatimie rebuilt her artistic practice and developed a distinct voice. Her paintings seek to offer moments of calm, reflection, and renewal.
