Sara Benninga

Sara Benninga is a contemporary artist based in Jerusalem. Her work explores the complex relationship between the figure and its environment, informed by a reflection on strangeness, fragmentation, and social dynamics. Through dense, layered pictorial compositions, she questions how bodies coexist, look at each other, or simply seem to cross paths.

Using a variety of media—charcoal, dry pastel, acrylic, and oil—she deconstructs traditional narratives of representation and questions the legacies of art history, particularly in its depictions of gender and human relationships.
