Biography
Roberto Coda Zabetta was born in Biella in 1975.
One year before entering the Brera Academy in 1995, he met the artist Aldo Mondino. From 1996 to 2000 he was his study assistant. Coda Zabetta tells about this experience: "I believe that the real mentors are those people who are able to help you find your way. You just have to stay there and wait in silence. Mondino has been all this. Today he lives a little bit inside me too".
In 1997 he began to participate in exhibitions and competitions for young artists, both in Italy and abroad. In 1998 his brother Stefano tragically disappears and the artist decides to leave for Morocco. On this occasion he began to paint faces.
Afterwards he lived for long periods in New York and then in Berlin and his work focused more and more on character and action. Several art critics come to some of the most complex and contradictory definitions of his work: those who see pain, anger, fear, discomfort or those who still see provocation, dream, unconscious.
He currently lives and works in Milan and London.
