Biography

Attilio Pratella (Lugo, April 19, 1856 - Naples, April 28, 1949) was an Italian painter active at the end of the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century.

Attilio Pratella studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.

In 1880, on a scholarship, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and spent the rest of his life in this city.

In 1949 he died in Naples.

In 1902, Pratella was appointed honorary professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.

A street in Naples and one in Lugo bear his name. His works are exhibited in many museums in Italy and abroad. Three of his five children (Fausto, Paolo and Ada) also became recognized painters.
