Biography

Alexandra von Braun is a visual artist working between Germany and Italy. She studied fine arts in Turin and Paris.

Following her formal education, she continued to explore different artistic disciplines in Asia, with a particular focus on Japan. At the centre of her research lies the artwork understood as a lived experience: an encounter grounded in presence, awareness, and attention. The work unfolds as a relational event that takes place both for the artist in the act of making and for the viewer in the act of looking. In this sense, the artwork does not narrate or represent, but becomes a vital experience, generating active states of perception.

Von Braun's work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions across Europe and Japan. Her most recent projects are often accompanied by self-composed soundscapes, creating immersive atmospheres in which repetition, duration, and elements of Zen practice draw the viewer into a shared field of attention and perceptual engagement.
