Max Convento

Max Convento began to paint in the late 1970s, following previous photographic research experiences which had resulted in an art book.

After a period marked by pronounced expressionist trends, he turned to abstract experiments characterized by textured surfaces. The materials used ranged from canvases to ceramic plates and plaster molds.

He then developed the technique of "grilles" of enamel on brightly colored backgrounds. This same technique was later applied to paper and canvas.

In 1988, he exhibited at Artexpo N.Y. in New York, at the Lavits Convention Center, and at Artexpo California, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, in the United States.

In 1990, he was included in the prestigious Catalogue of Modern Art with a prize for one of his canvas paintings, 50x40 cm (19.68"x 15.74"), worth 2,000,000 lire - about 1,000 €, but dating back 35 years!

In Italy, he exhibited at the Perna gallery in Foligno (PG) and at the Perna Art Studio in Milan.
