Biography

Amadou Opa Bathily is a graduate of the National Institute of Arts (INA) and the Balla Fasséké Kouyaté Conservatory of Multimedia Arts and Crafts (CAMM-BFK) in Bamako. He took his first steps in creation at a very young age in an art recovery workshop (Atelier Miria) where he came into contact with several materials, notably metal. It was thanks to his experience in different art schools that he had a new vision regarding the hard material that is metal.

For him, everything can be flexible and durable at the same time when the material and the artist control each other. He has participated in several group exhibitions and training workshops in Mali and Tunisia, notably at Interférence de Tunisie (Art of Light). Opa is part of the second promotion of the qualitative development program of the KÔrè cultural center in Ségou and winner of the 2017 Cité Nationale competition. He works in several mediums, namely painting, sculpture and installation, to name a few. just a few.
