Ellen Geerts

Ellen Geerts was educated at the Academy of Visual Education in Tilburg.

She finds inspiration for her landscapes in southern Limburg, Tuscany, Provence, southern England and Terschelling. His work borders on figuration and abstraction. Ellen Geerts' paintings derive both depth and performance recognition from her use of color. Warm tons and a capricious brush reinforce each other and ensure a colorful and melodic tone in mutual consistency. She works layer by layer with dry, loose paint. The underlying sofas then have an effect on the top layer.

The compositions are precise and overflowing with vitality. Despite the vivid painting style, they never get theatrical or pathetic. For the artist, it is about transferring moods and even more about evoking experiences.

Ellen Geerts moves decisively between the imagination of perceived reality and a translation, an emotional interpretation. Dynamics, balance, color experience, rhythm, brush and paint skin provide information about the personal experience of the landscape. The high concentration on land and vegetation is remarkable. Air and water play a less important role. The world of experience that manifests itself in the work of Ellen Geerts is revealed in subtle nuances, poetic writing and a warm use of color; elements that give painting a soul. The end result is the result of a creative process that consists of constant consideration and reconsideration. Ellen's works have been exhibited in galleries and museums in the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, England, Romania, Austria and the United States.

In 2018, she received the International Doge's Prize, Venice.
