Akinsola’s practice investigates themes of human philosophy, psychological awareness, emotion, culture, spirituality, identity, and human connection
Born in 2001, Olamilekan Akinsola is a Nigerian contemporary artist and visual storyteller based in Lagos. He holds a degree in Creative Arts from the University of Lagos and has trained under notable mentors, including Bolaji Ogunwo, Akinbanji Osanyemi, Damilola Opedun, and Ayoola Gbolahan.
Working primarily with charcoal, oil, acrylic, and burnt paper, Akinsola's practice investigates themes of human philosophy, psychological awareness, emotion, culture, spirituality, identity, and human connection. His mixed-media approach blends classical techniques with modern emotional expression, positioning his work at the intersection of Afro-Classical tradition and contemporary reflection.
Akinsola has exhibited in group shows across Nigeria and internationally, including at Didi Museum, Signature Beyond Art Gallery, Artlanta ArtFair, Akka Project in Venice, and the +234 Art Fair, Ogirikan Art Gallery, and Lasmara Art Gallery. His work has also been featured on digital platforms like Artsy, and he is also a past participant in the Reimagined Hope Residency by FMACTCE Nigeria and MadHouse Tikera Africa.
Akinsola currently lives and works in Lagos, where he continues to develop a growing body of work that explores human psychology, identity, and emotional depth through figurative storytelling.
