Biography

Maisara Baroud is a Palestinian visual artist born in Gaza in 1976. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from An Najah National University in Nablus and a Master of Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts in Zamalek, Cairo. He has also taught at the College of Fine Arts at Al Aqsa University in Gaza.

Working primarily through a stark black and white visual language, Baroud explores war, displacement, political imprisonment, and illegal detention, with a particular focus on the Palestinian experience. His work reflects on lives shaped by recurring cycles of violence, loss, survival, and resilience.

Baroud has exhibited extensively in Palestine and internationally, and has presented six solo exhibitions, including Rubble (2021), Existence (2021), and salt Boats (2019).
